Arizona, is the Sunshine State and the "Valley of the Sun", where the cities of Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale are slowly but surely growing together. This area is the fastest growing region in the USA. But around the turn of the year 2004 and 2005 there was not much sunshine, instead it was raining “dogs and cats” in Arizona. In the last 20 years there has never been so much rain during this time of the year. But the rain was badly needed, because all creeks and reservoirs were almost dry, due to the draught of the last few years. Now they have filled up again and the Sonora Desert as well as the mountains is as green and in blossom as never before. Kathrin Mehlitz from Berlin/Germany had a much more different remembrance from Arizona, when she arrived January 31, 2005 in Scottsdale. Her idea was to flee the German winter for three weeks, enjoying the Arizona sunshine and to learn more about the training of the Fox Trotter. But the sun was hiding most of the time and a lot of rain poured down. The roofed arena of the Miller-Ranch and also the roof covering the round pen were put on to protect from sunshine more than from rain. But the roofs protected well against the rain now and the training with the horses was the most important issue.
With this training facility the rain couldn’t stop us working with the horses. Kathrin Mehlitz and her partner, Dirk Weiermann, from Berlin are the new and proud owners of “"Rosalinde" is bred to "Pancho's Playboy" and her foal is due in the fall 2005. She will travel to Europe by mid 2005.
